Research Analyst Asks Dr. Lox for Knee Cartilage Repair References: Part One

Regenerative Medicine research shows it is possible for stem cells to help with knee cartilage repair.
A research analyst who just happens to work for a large technology company, and interesting enough, one of their products is a Knee joint replacement system, proclaimed to me, “You can’t regrow cartilage, my orthopedic surgeon said so. He also said 8 years ago I needed a knee replacement surgery, but I am still walking.”
However, his knee arthritis has just progressed by 8 years. Now it’s a bigger problem, and he didn’t understand. He became interested in learning more about Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cell Therapy, and knee cartilage repair research.
The Problem with Starting with No Background In Regenerative Medicine for Knee Cartilage Repair
After much deliberation over that statement, he wanted research references – But on what particular subject?
I suggested starting with simple studies, on uniform experimentally induced post traumatic knee injuries. Then progressing to more complicated human studies, that are not uniform with multiple variables.
He was not interested. He failed to grasp the point.
Humans are diverse, and research is not specific for similar situations to his. This is why human studies differ in results for cartilage repair, as compared to animal studies. He left with a perplexed look on his face.
His mind was working, but confused. I offered some research papers, knowing there were none that were pertinent for his exact condition.
There is no right study for him as a unique person. Most research is done that way. Studies are on groups of people, that are not completely relevant to you as a person.
How did I know that I asked? In reference to the papers I suggested off the top of my head. I guess you know he replied. Then I said, “I am am a research analyst as well, but my expertise is in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy, and cartilage repair.”
Dr. Lox Sports a Regenerative Medicine Expert
Dennis M. Lox, M.D. has been an expert in Sports and Regenerative Medicine a long time.
Dr. Lox has lectured Nationally and Internationally on the subject. This is to University Professors and experts in the Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cell Science, Tissue Engineering, and even the Veterinary Regenerative Medicine field.
It is not easy to grasp everything in an office visit, however some patients expect to. Most ask excellent questions and these are answered as scientifically as they want.
No one can master any field that is not their expertise in an hour. Impossible task, the best that can be hoped for is to be able to point them in the right direction, and be open to discuss the matter again, which is what some people exactly do, they schedule a second appointment.
Dr. Lox has edited two medical textbooks, written eight medical textbook chapters, and numerous scientific articles and abstracts, as well as frequently lecturing on many Regenerative Medicine topics. Dr. Lox maintains a practice in Sports and Regenerative Medicine in the Los Angeles, California metropolitan area, and the Tampa Bay, Florida metropolitan area.
