Vietnamese Patient with Hip Arthritis

A patient from Vietnam with chronic hip pain from osteoarthritis (arthritis) consulted Dr. Lox for hip stem cell therapy. Dr. Lox is an expert in the use of stem cell therapy for hip pain and arthritis. Dr. Lox has treated patients with a variety of conditions from around the globe with stem cell therapy.
Hip pain may arise from multiple sources. The most prevalent cause is hip degenerative arthritis. Hip arthritis only trails knee arthritis in frequency of joint arthritis. In fact knee and hip arthritis is present in over 50 percent of elderly patients, and are the most frequently replaced joints. Hip and knee replacements are on the magnitude of a million per year in the United States. Again hip replacements only trail knee replacement surgery in frequency.
As hip pain is so common many patients are looking for alternative options to hip replacement surgery. Stem cell therapy for hip pain not surprisingly has gathered more interest.
Hip arthritis is a typically progressive disorder. Early treatment and management is very important. A secondary arthritis that develops occurs with avascular necrosis (AVN).
Avascular necrosis (AVN) arises when blood flow to the hip is compromised and hip cell death occurs. This can lead to bone collapse, and a rapid secondary hip arthritis. Early AVN detection is important for prompt treatment.
Stem cell therapy for hip pain has also been seen after failed hip surgery or in place of hip surgery. Hip Labral tears have increasingly been treated with arthroscopic surgery. Just as in knee arthroscopic surgery, hip arthroscopic surgery has seen an increased incidence of earlier onset hip arthritis. Stem cell therapy may be a viable option in these cases. Likewise, stem cell therapy may be an alternative to hip replacement surgery in some patients.
Symptoms of a hip problem may include:
Pain in the hip joint (usually felt in the groin area)
Referred pain to the thigh and knee
Limping
Reduced range of motion
Muscle stiffness
Pain when trying to put weight through the leg on the affected side.
Causes of hip problems in adults include:
Osteoarthritis – the most common form of arthritis to affect the hips
Other forms of inflammatory arthritis – such as rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis
Greater trochanteric bursitis
Bone fracture
Avascular necrosis or AVN
Soft tissue pain, such as from bursitis or tendonitis
If you continue to suffer with a chronic hip problem and your current treatment plan leaves you feeling hopeless, perhaps a fresh set of experienced eyes can change your outlook.
