After Knee Stem Cells Athlete Qualifies For Kona Hawaiian Iron Man Championships

A knee stem cell patient of Dennis M. Lox, MD, just happens to be an Iron Man.
Iron Man competitors are not your ordinary athletes. This one is no exception. A former special forces warrior, he has continued to apply his intensity and tenacity towards all endeavors. At 57 however, his knees have seen better days. He previously treated with Dr. Lox for knee stem cells, and successfully completely several triathlons afterward. However, while training he was doing cycling road work, and was clipped by a car fracturing his clavicle, several ribs and puncturing his lung. While in the hospital ER, he called Dr. Lox, and true to his warrior spirit, concluded during his convalescence it would be a great time to consider another go at knee stem cells, as he had re-injured his knee doing his accident as well.
Dr. Lox agreed. He underwent knee stem cell therapy while recovering. His logic was sound. If I can’t run or train, why not help repair myself with Regenerative Medicine? He previously had a positive response to knee stem cells and was actually forward thinking on many planes.
He did recover from all his injuries. Began the retraining process. Like many high caliber elite athletes, their bodies respond quickly.
He contacted Dr. Lox after being accepted to the Kona Iron Man competition in Hawaii.
Thanking Dr. Lox for his role in his achieving his goal. Athletes often measure success only in terms of their sports goals. This was a lofty goal. It couldn’t happen to a nicer or more rewarding person.
Alternative strategies such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Therapy have been advocated as approaches to knee joint arthritis. Dr. Lox notes that Regenerative treatments focus on healing and repair at the cellular level where joint breakdown and inflammation begin. There are many factors which facilitate joint breakdown as well as factors enhancing joint repair. Knowledge of these processes, coupled with PRP and Stem Cell Therapy can provide an alternative to the future knee joint replacement when you are told you are not quite bad enough yet.
